Awards

Irisys has won many awards, both for the quality of its products and for the company itself.

In 2011, Irisys won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise, the highest official UK award for British businesses. The company was selected in the International Trade category because of its “outstanding” export achievements.

The full text of the award read:

Infrared Integrated Systems Ltd (Irisys) designs and manufactures thermal detectors and systems which are used for people counting, queue management, thermal imaging, security and healthcare applications. It started trading in 1996 and is winning the Award for increasing its overseas sales by 142% to nearly £12 million p.a. over three years, and increasing exports from 48% to 83% of its production. This outstanding performance has been achieved by exporting to more than 40 countries worldwide, using over 100 country based specialist partners, a comprehensive marketing approach and by pursuing new opportunities in North America and South America, China and Japan. The company invests double digit percentage of revenues in R&D, and holds over 70 patents.

In 2003, the European Electronics Industry Awards, sponsored by Electronics Weekly, named Irisys winner in both the Product of the Year category for its low-cost handheld thermal imaging system; and also in R&D for its work in research and development.

In the same year, Irisys was awarded the title of fastest-growing technology company in the Midlands, in the prestigious Sunday Times ARM Tech Track 100 league table.

In 2006, Tesco, the UK’s largest grocery chain, won the prestigious Retail Week Customer Service Initiative of the Year award, for its hugely successful One-in-Front campaign. Using SMARTLANE queue-busting camera technology developed by Irisys, in-store queue waiting time is now kept to a minimum for customers. Sir Terry Leahy, Chief Executive of Tesco, cited this as a key factor in boosting store profits.
