Queue Management

For retail applications the Irisys Queue Management solution uses Irisys infrared queue monitoring detectors installed over checkout lanes, together with detectors counting the number of people entering and exiting the store. Unobtrusively sensing customers by their body heat, the detectors monitor their behaviour and count the number of active ‘shopping units’ in the checkout queue.

Real-time queuing data is displayed on a video monitor or a mobile PDA device. The system’s checkout dashboard gives store management a visual check on current checkout performance and raises alerts if this falls towards a defined minimum service level. The Irisys Predictive Algorithm also calculates and displays how many checkouts will be needed in 15 or 30 minutes time to meet that service level.
